Persephone, the daughter of Demeter and Zeus, was the wife of Hades and the Queen of the Underworld.
Like her mother, Demeter, Persephone was an agriculturally-based goddess who presided over grains and vegetation, leading her to also be known as the Goddess of Vegetation.
